Yesterday we spent our entire time in a hotel conducting casting auditions. These auditions were pretty cool because they were for an American television series called Outlander. It is produced by Sony and will be run on Starz within the next year. Outlander is a tv series based out of Scotland, which you can see why they came to an Irish casting agency for actors. The coolest part was that the role that was being auditioned for was for one of the lead male roles who is supposed to be a dreamy dreamy guy, therefore, I got to see a lot of beautiful Irish actors throughout the day. ~ Maggie Hamilton, My time across “the pond” – summer 2013

Yeah, I hope they use Scottish men for the Scottish roles? The only Irishman I can think of in the series is Stephen Bonnett and he is certainly not dreamy.

I am getting really, really, really, scared…. Jeff Woodsman, who narrates Lord John in Scottish Prisoner, speaks with a strong Irish accent, (definitely not upper crust British), and the other fellow who narrated Jamie’s character, spoke with a strong Irish accent as well. I am really hopeful that this Irish casting agency won’t do the old, “its for American audiences, and they can’t distinguish accents,” thing! Jamie simply has to be a genuine Scotsman! Think of all the knock-on effects, tourism, etc…..

Jaime Campbell Bowers. Jill Reynolds cast him as Arthur in Starz’s Camelot. He spraks with upper-crust British accent but maybe he can change that. Note the long, long legs, broad shoulders, decent length nose and wide mouth. Definite Jaime material.

Oh NOOOOOO! If this is the agency that cast Bowers as Arthur we are in a LOT of trouble! I hardly ever even think about casting, but with Startz Camelot, EVERY WEEK I thought with consternation, “who was the idiot that cast THIS guy as Arthur!? He was ordinary, almost homely, with bad teeth and a skinny, narrow physique. Fine for other parts, but the hero?! No way. It was distracting the whole time I struggled to get into the show. Bowers is NOT Jamie material. That would be my worst nightmare…
