I attended the world premiere screening of Outlander last night in San Diego, CA (at SDCC) and I just want to reassure anyone who might still be worrit about Sam being a convincing Jamie- dinna fash!
Even though I trusted Ron Moore & his production team, there was, yes, still a teeny-tiny part of me that wasn’t sure if I’d be able to reconcile Sam with the Jamie I held in my mind’s eye, when I read the books.
Well.
From the very first second “Jamie” appeared in the episode, I was sold. As in DONE. A goner. I wasn’t watching Sam Heughan on screen, I was seeing Jamie. MY Jamie.
And it wasn’t about nitpicking physical features—Sam just embodied Jamie. Or maybe channeled is a better word…
Have nae doot, you willna be disappointed.

Thanks for the update… really appreciate your take on Sam as Jamie. and I’m sure many of us had the same trepidation. Perhaps it’s because Jamie is like no other. Canice

Surprise, Xfinity started showing Outlander a week earlier! I was just searching for something to watch last night, and WOW there it was a week early. At first I figured it was a commercial or a tease for what was to come, but no it was the first episode. Man was I happy to see that and yes it was beautiful & it did live up to all that I have been reading about it. So far, & most important of all, it has stayed true to the book.

I am not TOTALLY sold on Sam as Jamie I keep looking for the knife edged nose that keeps him from being pretty other than that his eyes are not slanted like a cats. I have been a fan for too many years and my mind has pictured Jamie a certain way for so long that it’s very hard. So am rereading the series again!!!!! Hoping to see Sam as Jamie. I also have a different picture of Claire but all anyone wants to talk about is Jiamie!!! Wonder why????
